amongst the mountain gods

This is a suggested itinerary, we’ll adapt it to your group and the weather as required.

Day 1

Indipendent arrival in Aosta, briefing and meet the guide.

Day 2 - PILA

Our first day on the bike is dedicated to the best natural trails in Pila to get into the flow of things. Taking advantage of the chair lifts we’ll get to high altitude trails.

Day 3 - The Big Ridge

From Aosta we take advantage of the shuttle before pedaling upwards to arrive at the top, high above the resort, where we’ll enjoy a 360deg view of the valley before descending. Starting on the ridge, then flowing through the forest, and coasting along a mellow trail beside an old river all the way back to town.

Altitude Gain: 900/1300m
Descent: 1500/1900m

Day 4 - LA BECCA

Starting from Aosta, we’ll ride up to Thouraz on the north side of the valley. From there we’ll pedal up above the forest to ride the Becca France ridge. A historically important mountain and a never ending flow trail, back through the forest and down into the valley for a tasting at a local wine cellar!

Altitude Gain: 900/1300m
Descent: 1500/1900m

Day 5 - The Surfin Trail

This ride is a valley classic! We’ll again ride up to the ridge at Pila, but this time descend on the other side into the Cogne Valley where a long ride up above the famous Lillaz waterfalls will take us to the Pas d’Invergneux. Surfing the contours as we descend a wide valley, past an ancient mountain village and more waterfalls, before arriving for a beer on one of the most scenic terraces anywhere! From there a last descent before following the river back into Aosta.

Altitude Gain: 1500/2100m
Descent: 1600/2200m

Day 6 - Find the flow

For the last ride of the week we’ll head into the Valle di Gran San Bernardo to ride a long flow trail on the shoulder of Mont Saron down into the village of Etroubles. After a coffee stop, we’ll climb up the other side of the valley through the forest to Rifugio Chaligne where we can again refuel before choosing one of many descents back to the centre of Aosta!

Altitude Gain: 600/800m
Descent: 1100m
